Examining Diet-Microbiome Relationships In Marmoset Monkeys
We are in the process of conducting proof-of-concept, dietary intervention studies using the common marmoset as a translational animal model. By serving as a translational model, research in marmosets can bridge rodent models to clinical trials in humans by studying the roles of diet and the gut microbiome in the progression of chronic, noncommunicable diseases such as obesity. Such research could help inform the development of diet-based therapeutics that target the gut microbiome to improve human health.
